From 2003 to 2006 we art directed Reagenz, Lucerne’s largest monthly event listing. The magazine’s size was unique but a challenging design problem too: Measuring only 105x148mm (4”x6”), we focused on legibility without compromising the amount of content. To distinguish the editorial content clearly from the advertisements, we created a strong, recognizable grid system (1.618:1) and a colour guide to speed up navigation. The magazine was mostly read in low lighting environments such as clubs and restaurants; therefore, we made all body copy black type on solid white boxes to maximize legibility.
